Village of Bald Head Island PUBLIC NOTICE A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF BALD HEAD ISLAND DECLARING ITS INTENT TO CONSIDER CLOSING A PORTION OF LIGHTHOUSE WYND WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 160A-299 of the North Carolina General Statutes, the Village Council of the Village of Bald Head Island is authorized to permanently close streets and public alleys; and WHEREAS, on May 3, 2021, the Village received a petition and request from Mark and Robin Prak, Old Ballast Stone, LLC, the Old Baldy Foundation, Inc., The Village Chapel, Bald Head Island Limited, LLC, and the Bald Head Island Association (the “Petitioners”) seeking closure of the west end of Lighthouse Wynd between where it intersects with Ballast Stone Alley and where it intersects with Timber Bridge; and WHEREAS, at the Village Council Retreat on February 18, 2022, the Petitioners renewed their request for street closure; and WHEREAS, the procedure for closing streets and alleys pursuant to Section 160A-299 requires the Village Council to first adopt a resolution declaring its intent to consider closing the street and calling a public hearing on the question; said statute further requires that the resolution shall be published once a week for four successive weeks prior to the hearing, and a copy thereof be sent by registered or certified mail to all owners of property adjoining the street as shown on the county tax records, and a notice of the closing and public hearing shall be prominently posted in at least two places along said street or alley. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the Village of Bald Head Island that the Village Council intends to consider closing a portion of Lighthouse Wynd between where it intersects with Ballast Stone Alley and where it intersects with Timber Bridge and calls a public hearing on the question to be held at 10:00 AM, or shortly thereafter, on Thursday, the 14th day of April 2022, in the Village Council meeting room in the Public Safety Complex located at 273 Edward Teach Extension, Bald Head Island, NC 28461, and via remote meeting procedures as permitted by law. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish a copy of this resolution once a week for the next four weeks. This this the 18th day of March 2022.
