Joseph Carson “Joe” Ward, 65, of Boiling Spring Lakes died unexpectedly at his home on September 24, 2019.

Mr. Ward was born April 11, 1954 to the late Richard and Avis Ward.

After high school, Joe enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany. He retired from Duke Energy, having worked at the nuclear power plant in Southport for 38 years. Joe was a technologically savvy person, he worked on all sorts of electronics, built computers, and was a remote control airplane enthusiast. Joe was happy to share his knowledge and help anyone he could. He was also a huge NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his wife Amy Ward, whom he married in 1991; daughter Kristen Sneltjes and husband Jame; son Richard Ward; daughter Emma Ward; a brother, Kent Ward and wife Gretchen; a sister, Karen Croninger and husband Larry; many nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeffrey and Nancy Scholl; a brother-in-law, Michael Scholl; and three sister-in-laws, Andrea Berscheid, Megan Ransom, and Katie Proctor.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church. The family will have visitation at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 am.
